Not quite the masterpiece as Chaon's first novel, You Remind Me of Me, but an amazing read nontheless. Chaon again examines the idea of identity, and what makes up one's self. The characters in the book are all slightly to morbidly unsatisfied with themselves and yearn for a new identity, a fresh start in life. There are three storylines that eventually connect up near the end; and it's a complex novel, with shifts in time and multiple identities to be unmasked. Await Your Reply reads like a dark thriller, with enough philosophical undercurrents to make the reader wonder about their own identity by the end.
